Quality of Life & Urticaria

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Quality of Life means “an individual’s perception about his or her position in life in terms of culture and values towards his or her goals, expectations, standards, and concerns”.

Do you know that studies suggest that urticaria patients have an impaired quality of life, similarly to what happens with heart disease (triple-vessel disease) patients? And that the quality of life of those living with urticaria is worse than of the ones with respiratory allergy?

Indeed, but since in most of cases the disease is not life-threatening, physicians, family members and friends of urticaria patients usually underestimate the suffering it may cause. We will discuss these subjects in that session.

By providing this space, GUIA’s intention was to touch public opinion and improve the quality of life of those who live with urticaria.
